At Colpitts we deal with application forms for business visas every day. Here are our top 6 tips to ensure your visa application is accepted in record time!
1. Know what visa you want
This may be stating the obvious however each country has a vast range of visas; tourist, business, work, conference, student, short term, long term … the list goes on! If you require a visa you need to state why you are going, who is paying for you to be there and what you are going to be doing there. These factors will decide what visa you need and what you need to do to get it!
2. Use black ink
As a general rule application forms should be completed in black ink.
3. Send in your form on separate pages
Embassy and Consulates ask that the completed forms be sent to them on separate pages. It’s tempting to save paper but they won’t accept double sided application forms and if you have to redo and resend the form this will add time on to the application process.
4. Photograph Size Requirements
It is advisable to check the size of photographs required as well as the background colour for visa applications. A standard passport photo is not always acceptable, for example in India applications require photos that are 5 × 5cm.
5. Allow enough time
There have been recent changes in the application process for Russia which require individuals to provide fingerprints at the application centre for every visa. This will add significant time on to process times and should be considered when arranging travel.
6. Invitation Letters
Be sure to double check the requirements to be included in the Invitation/Business letter. Of special importance is the dates / type of visa required. It is also important to note if a copy is sufficient or if they require the original document.
